Following several months of discussion and planning, Berrima’s new Boules Court has been delivered, situated in front of the old tennis court shelter shed in the Market Place.
Boules (French pronounciation: Boolz) is a collective name for a wide range of games in which the objective is to throw or roll heavy balls (called boules in France, and bocce in Italy) as close as possible to a small target ball.
The facility will improve amenity for residents, with Wednesday evenings slated for social gatherings and friendly competition.
The BRA extends its thanks, in particular to Ken Wilson for his commitment to negotiations and planning with council, as well as to Berrima’s residents who volunteered their time to assist in the court’s construction last week – Rod Blay, Clive West, Hugh Farramond, Michael Verberkt and Macca.
Ken has also announced the formation of the very ‘Royal Berrima Boules Club’, which plays tournaments every Wednesday at ‘Court’ from 6.00pm. Everyone’s Welcome !
