Goulburn MP, the Hon. Wendy Tuckerman presents the BRA with a War Memorial Grant for $10,000

The successful grant awarded to the BRA for $10,000 from the NSW War Memorial Fund will contribute to the preparation of a Conservation Management Plan for the 9 hectare Berrima Remembrance Grove site on the Old Hume Highway at the Medway and Berrima Road Roundabout. The Conservation Management Plan will be prepared by the highly regarded local landscape and heritage team of Charlotte and Chris Webb.

Goulburn MP, the Hon. Wendy Tuckerman, Minister for Local Government, formally presented the grant in a ceremony on 2 February 2022, on-site at the Remembrance Gove, witnessed by many Association members.

BRA President, Eric Savage, thanked Ms Tuckerman and the NSW Government for their continued support for the project.

This grant follows on from a War Memorial Fund grant in 2020-21 for $9,000 that funded a comprehensive survey and condition report on the entire plantation that was planted between 1956 and 1965 to commemorate the sacrifice of Australian Servicemen and Servicewomen in WWII and the Korean War.”

A call will now go out to the Southern Highlands community for heritage, horticultural, landscape and management specialists to join an Expert Committee which will oversee the implementation of the Plan into the future.

The Berrima Residents Association assumed the permanent custodianship of the Berrima Remembrance Grove from the NSW Remembrance Driveway Council in late 2019, under a formal Memorandum of Understanding.
