Remembrance Day 2021 – Celebrated at the Berrima Cenotaph in the Marketplace
Every year, the Berrima Primary School organises the village’s observance of Armistice Day, 11 November 1919, that marked the end of First World War.
The children in turn read passages explaining the significance of the event to the small crowd gathered under the Sir Henry Parkes’ Oak Tree and give thanks for the sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women who died during that terrible conflict which failed in its promise of being ‘the war to end all wars’. The Children observe a Minute’s Silence and raise the flags from half-mast.
