The NSW Independent Planning Commission rejected the South Korea’s POSCO Hume Coal project to build a greenfields export gaol mine a few kilometres south of Berrima.

The Berrima and Southern Highlands Community had been fighting the project for over 11 years and was delighted with the decision of the independent assessment panel to finally kill off the project.
The Berrima Residents Association is particularly thankful for the leadership, hard work and sustained effort of the the community opposition headed by the Battle for Berrima and Coal Free Southern Highlands.
