While you are no doubt cleaning up after last weekend’s storm, we can report that the official rainfall total for Berrima for the Saturday and Sunday is 269.6mm. Robertson had over twice that. With more rain coming over the rest of the month, 2016 will no doubt surpass the wettest June on record (2001) for Berrima of 270mm (monthly total).
The Wingecarribee rose swiftly up to the bottom on the steps leading down to the quarry walk and completely flooded the Scout camp at the bottom of Apple Street. Wind gusts exceeded 70km/hour over much of the weekend.
Makes you wonder how Hume Coal’s proposed 6 storey high, 800 metre long coal stockpile and mine water storages would have suffered over this weekend !
