On Friday 30 May, the Berrima Residents Association invited all Berrima residents to a special gathering, at the Anglican Church Hall, in honour of our long-serving and much loved postmasters who recently retired.
Geoff and Kaye McKew, with the assistance of their son Stuart, have faithfully served Berrima from its tiny post office for over 15 years, becoming an institution in the process.
Over 200 residents attended the event, which was supported by the Berrima Public School (with a gold coin donation sausage sizzle) and Magpie Cafe (with an exotic chocolate cake and finger foods).
The village hall was practically groaning under the weight of goodies and drinks brought by residents.
While we thanked Geoff, Kaye & Stuart and wished them well for the future, residents also extended a warm welcome to our new postmaster, Cathy, and her family – who we appreciate have a big job on their hands, getting to know us all.
Everybody enjoyed the wonderful camaraderie, which continued till quite late in the evening.
