Berrima has been named the 2021 winner of Australia’s Top Tourism Town (under 5,000 people category). The prestigious award was announced by the Hon Dan Tehan, Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment at the inaugural Top Tourism Town event on 28 October 2021. Port Fairy in Victoria secured the Silver medal and Tasmania’s town of Stanley the Bronze.
This National Award followed Berrima being named as the Best Tourism Town in NSW in June 2021.
In these coveted awards, tourism towns from across Australia compete for the honour of being named Australia’s Top Tourism Town. Mudgee claimed the Gold Medal (in the category over 5,000 population), with a population over 5,000), with Queensland’s Noosa claiming Silver and the Bronze going to New Norfolk in Tasmania.
Australian Tourism Awards Chair, Daniel Gschwind said these awards are celebrating towns throughout Australia that demonstrate outstanding commitment to encouraging tourism and increasing visitation to their destination. The Top Tourism Town Awards would not be possible without the generous support of Tourism Australia and Qantas.
